The Battle of Orgreave

A police short shield PSU (Police Support Unit) charge past an injured miner (who receives a blow from a passing officer's baton) as miners flee up Highfield Lane, in Orgreave village. Part of EventPlan''s extremely convincing live re-enactment of the 1984 confrontation, staged on the actual spot on 17 June 2001, for Jeremy DellerArtangel and Channel 4.

Police constables wear blue shirts and carry oblong shields, and are commanded by an Inspector (centre) in a white shirt. Attention to detail, an accurate reconstruction of the events of June 18 1984 and an absence of "political spin" were key objectives of the live re-enactment, although the resulting Channel 4 film had a definite political viewpoint.
